I have recently had requests for data related to the public domain books. I will try and stay involved in this area. There has been a lot of data published on using public domain data. I will do a search of my database and see if I can find any free ebooks available. I know that David Valleries, has done a lot of work in the public domain area, and remember purchasing some data from him. I will have to do a little research in this area and see what I can turn up.
In the mean time, I have checked my favorites folder and found links that I checked out before and thought was useful data. I will post these links in the forum, just in case your interested. I am in the process of taking a course (not on public domain)from a friend of mine that is suppose to take 30-35 days. I have taken the first 2 lessons and believe it will be worth while. It is on researchng data on the internet and one of the areas suggested was working with public domain documents.
I am aware that some are going out on eBay and searching through their directory and subdirectories and finding a lot of public domain documents and ebooks being used. It seems that if you keep boring down in the site; many times it will give you the name and sometimes the publication date of the offering. I am told, that anything published prior to 1923, is considered in the public domain. I am not an expert or a lawyer, so do your own evaluation of this information.
It's a good idea to see how much the auctions are getting for various public domain works. It might lead you to some good ideas for a niche that could be very profitable. There are many publications and pictures that have fallen into the area of public domain and a little research might lead to profitability.

I have ordered a couple different ebooks on public domain information. I didn't realize how much I was going to have to read to get through these. I am going to take some of the information combine the two, or three, and compile the best info into a video format. I will probably offer it here on our site 1st; then I will probably go back to original authors and see if they want to offer it to their subscribers. This is another project that got put on the back burner and now I am pretty sure there is some good products similar to what I was thinking about available.
Hang in here and I will let you know when I get it done. I have one of our members to thank for getting me started in the direction of public domain. I will see that he gets some credit, or shares in any revenue. I think people should be paid for their effort, and original ideas. I just happen to have the means to create the product and need to use some of it before I forget how. Thanks Gary, I'll send you a free copy and see what you think as soon as its done. If you have a webpage, I would be glad to list it in the product. I would have put more info here accept; I hadn't talked with you about it yet.
I hope Gary isn't waiting on me, I just got too many irons in the fire and this project didn't get off the ground. If I did half the projects I have seen a need for, I'd probably be able to hire some one else to do some of the grunt work. Oh well, that's the way it goes sometimes. Public domain information can turn into some profitable ventures if you are willing to do the research and complete the project.
Since I've had all these other offers, I am getting behind on some of the work I had previously started. I am still working on public domain work every now and then, it is just taking longerthan I planned.
Here it is July 2007 and I just now have been updating pages and found I had overlooked this project on public domain. I used to give my bosses all kinds of static about starting something and then dropping it; now I'm doing the same thin where public domain is concerned. The Internet changes so fast and someone trying to stay on the cutting edge can find themselves in an un-ending race to find the latest and greatest. Maybe, I need to slow down and smell the roses once in a while, the public domain might just be the way.
